In 1980 Smith & Wesson manufactured a limited series of collector’s belt buckles. The quantity of manufacture was limited to 2,500 pieces and the buckles were produced in solid brass with deluxe electroplate 22KT Hamilton gold and rhodium finish. This buckle is called the “Pistol Case” buckle which displays a Smith & Wesson #1 Revolver and “Manufactured Only By Smith & Wesson Springfield Massachusetts” on the face of the buckle. This buckle is slightly used and contains some small surface scratches. This buckle is contained in its original packaging. This item is very difficult to find and is a Smith & Wesson collector's MUST HAVE. The buckle is available in a VERY LIMITED quantity. |

In 1983 Smith & Wesson produced a series of collectors knife/belt buckle sets as commemorative products. These sets were sequentially numbered, beautifully engraved, and presented in presentation boxes. The item offered for sale here is the Duck Series produced in a series of one (1) to one thousand (1,000). This set is numbered #0273. The Knife has the Smith & Wesson logo engraved on it with the number “0273”. The silver face of the knife has a beautiful rendering of a ducks head, a duck emerging from water, the number “1983” and “1 of 1000” engraved and color filled on it. The knife has a blade of approximately two (2) inches and is approximately five and one half (5 ½) inches long overall when opened. The Belt Buckle is approximately one and three quarters (1 ¾) inches tall and approximately two and one half (2 ½) inches long. The silver background has a similar rendering as the knife of the ducks head, a duck emerging from water, the Smith & Wesson logo, “1 of 1,000”, and “1983 Limited Edition” engraved and color filled on it. The number “0723” is engraved on the backside of the buckle. The knife and belt buckle are inlayed in a blue hard formal presentation case. The inside top is white with “Smith & Wesson”, the Smith & Wesson logo, and “1 of 1,000” imprinted on it. The inside bottom of the presentation case is blue in color and form fitted to accept the knife and belt buckle. This item also includes the cardboard sheath the case was shipped in with the number “273” hand written on it. In the late 1970’s the Smith & Wesson Academy, Springfield, MA, began selling to Academy graduates this beautifully crafted 24kt gold plated serialized belt buckle. At the direction of the Academy, the buckles were manufactured and serialized by the Creative Casting Company of Denison, Texas. Each buckle was wrapped in simple bubble wrapping with a small four page flyer from Custom Buckles outlining how to care for the buckle. Academy graduates were the only individuals authorized to purchase these collector buckles after successfully completing training at the Academy. The face of each buckle has a complete beautiful Smith & Wesson logo raised with 24kt gold plate with “SMITH & WESSON ACADEMY” and “EST 1969” clearly embodied on a silver background. The back of the buckle is silver in color with 24kt gold plated belt hook and retainer. The logo of Creative Casting Company (on the image of the State of Texas) is under the belt retainer in 24kt gold plate. The rear of each buckle has a 24kt gold plate panel molded into it with “THIS BUCKLE EXCLUSIVELY CAST FOR THE SMITH & WESSON ACADEMY” and “BUCKLE NO. (Sequential number stamped)”. The buckle offered here is the very low serial number “322” making the buckle a highly sought after collector’s item. The buckle is shipped in its original bubble wrapping with the Custom Buckle Company insert. The buckle is new and has never been worn or placed on a belt. It has only been carefully removed from its packaging on several occasions. |
